  • This might be past its prime, but the bottom line is, if it is, this is still better a few years beyond its best than most Cabs are at their peak. Not overly jammy, which is to its benefit, to be honest. Very smooth, very subtle, lots of dark berries, a bit of plum, some oak leaf aroma. The bottle says 14.5% but one would be hard pressed to find all that alcohol. We got this directly from the Beckmen's personal library, which was an amazing experience. If you like well-balanced Cabs, you will enjoy this, if you still have it or can find it.

  • As opposed to mistaking this for Syrah, there was a Grenache note, which was welcomed. Plenty of stuffing, a bit faded from the last bottle I had. Still, even with a weak nose, there was some black fruit perfume and a great, somewhat jammy mouth feel. Purisima Cab is the real deal.

  • Delicious bottle of wine, but I might have mistaken it for a syrah rather than a cab. Interesting what the PMV terroir does for the varietal. Tons of black fruit, a bit of cranberry, and an earthiness that I can't describe any better but find in the PMV wines. Not going to evolve any more IMO, but not necessarily in danger of going downhill quickly either. I would drink it in the next couple years...
