I've had a couple bottles of this in cellar since release, never had this producer before...can only think I bought them because of 97 being our wedding year? Well...the wine is SUPER good! Decanted for a couple hours, then back in bottle for dinner...I believe 100% Cab Sauv...very youthful still, with gorgeous crushed red berry fruits(cherry, red plum)...very high toned cherry skin sours that refreshens...has that Italian twang...really dusty pencil shavings, wintergreen tobacco wrapper, dried currants...lots of crushed rock minerality, herbs...still has some white pepper tannins, but really integrated nicely with some smoothed out aged leather...it was about perfect by the last glass! Loved how bright and full of life this was, with just a nuance of Cab-ness to it...in fact I would not guess CS blind...Sangiovese more like it! Super happy to have one more bottle...definitely going in the anniversary bin!

Aperto con ampio anticipo, questa volta mostra tutto il potenziale: le note terziarie non sono dominanti ma approfondiscono il naso restando in sottofondo. Frutti di bosco neri, cedro, viola, liquirizia e tabacco dolce, macchia mediterranea. Molta toscana in questo naso, che prelude ad un palato in cui freschezza e struttura si sono perfettamente integrate con tannini torniti dal tempo per offrirsi in un tutt'uno armonico e di discreta eleganza. per me e' al suo picco.
Very cool, very dry, very Italian with - and not all marked by the warm vintage; there is a good backbone to this cab, and if you like in the Tuscan style, this hits the spot... drinking very well today, but even better on day 2, an indication of life left IMHO.

Wonderful cab, loaded with Tuscan typicity. Not the graphite or vanilla or blueberry of so many Cal cabs. Olive wood, sage and rosemary, crushed red fruit. Good tannins. Nice finish. Mature with years to go.
Stappato con un anticipo non sufficiente a farlo aprire completamente. granato con riflessi aranciati. Naso inizialmente vegetale - un erbaceo molto Cabernet - terroso e principalmente terziario. Poi schiude dei bei sentori di frutta matura: mora e mirtillo, prugna, amarena, scorza d'arancia. Liquirizia, sigaro e sottofondo di bosco. Al palato mostra una vitalità ancora notevole, con freschezza vigorosa e tannini fermi ma non più così ruvidi come li ricordavo nelle prime bottiglie aperte parecchi anni fa. Finale piacevolmente lungo. Resta un vino con personalità e rappresentativo del territorio, e che non tradisce le aspettative generate da un millesimo importante.
