Opened this after drinking a 2006. Wow, very enjoyable and I would think that this could have aged another few years and still been great. Nice flavours and not too sharp. As it opened up every drink was better than the one before. Which that I had a few more of these put away.

We contributors cellar our wines in as many ways as our reports. That being said, along with our respective anticipatory expectations, accumulated experiential cross referencing and specific tasting acumen including our choice of glassware, decanting decision and an immeasurable amount of tasting environment variables, I’ll add my one time evaluation. Dark, opaque color with slight brick-red at the edge in a Riedel Bordeaux glass. 80%Sangiovese, 15% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon yielding a dried prune enhanced nose of black fruit and spice. I expect evolution of all aspects over the ensuing hours this cold deep winter evening. Again with a non-off putting flavor of prune intermingled with the kindly dusty predomination of Sangiovese accompanied by vestigial tannins and the sweet fruit addition from the lesser players. Relaxed, interesting and overall supple and velvety. This should pair well with braised beef roast in a tomato sauce with paprika and allspice, roasted vegetables, and an episode of The British Baking Show. Delicious! I am personally surprised by the apparent superiority of longevity of my 2007 Italian wines, compared with the 2009 representatives in my modest collection. One might attest to a slight hint of oxygenation (maderized) but I’ll extend the benefit of a doubt to this well made wine. I hope to find more recent vintages from this producer. It is always a gamble as to when to reintroduce our treasures back from out of their state of hibernation. I welcome the sharing of any revelations of respective windows of opportunity.

No decant, drank with pizza on a Friday night so the expectations were not overly great. Delivered an enjoyable sweet/sour cherry core and balanced acidity that paired well with the food. Well made, and very good, but alas the last of my 2007s.

Color: Deep and impenetrable. At the rim the color has started fading. Another indication of its age is the slightly brownish hue. But still the color is quite youthful. Nose: Dried fig, something medicinal like licorice, a hint of beef broth. Mouth: Some nice cherries, too. Still quite a grip from the tannins but they have become tamer. Full bodied wine. I think the wine is at a good stage and can be consumed now or even be put away for another 4 years.
