  • Opened 3 hours in advance but probably not enough? Very pretty Leroy nose with tons of flower and candied fruit, but on the palate really gained weight after substantial time in the glass. Meaty, complex and very concentrated, it really goes above a 1er

  • 00109/909, "Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru" on the front label, perhaps late release. Grilled meat, blue fruit, lychee, potpourri, lightly savory, vanilla, sweet spice, so many flowers. Blossoming and haunting perfume. So complete and lifted, adding incredible acidity to the dimension; one of those Leroy premier crus that punches way above its weight. 96+

  • Gevery Luncheon (Manhatta): From HZW. A wine of exceptional elegance and quality. Opened several hours in advance and we were able to miraculously bear witness to the evolution over lunch.

First impressions were shy; the wine, clearly elegant and possesing a beautiful levity, was still rather green and closed. The aromatic intensity began to unfold with time. The tannin so light and elegant that the texture of the wine was unlike most any other Gevery I have tried. While some (limitted) impressions of Leroy have led me to find the wines generally monolithic and rather "natty," this wine was true to terrior.

  • On a root day. Purchased from Takshimaya Japan years ago. Bottle #16. A whirlwind in a Riedel Somm Burgundy glass gave you magic mixture of potpourri, fresh berries, herbs, dried fruits, spices... It may not as perfumed as a Beaumonts but signature Leroy nose is still sth every Burgundy lovers will never getting tired of. Top-notch structure and layers for any 1er... in 07. This wine is clearly still on the up side. Kudos to THE madam!

  • This showed better than a bottle consumed about a year plus ago. Still in a good age bracket, her 2007s are probably more ideal for earlier consumption. Gentle red fruit, touch of incense and lavender. Elegant and refined. Very enjoyable on this occasion.
