These wines are so unique and elegant. Sweet sandalwood, red berries, black cherries, sous bois, crushed stones, dried roses, and a clean, refreshing acidity. This is doing great at the moment and has plenty of life left.

This wine was poured blind. The aromas were totally crazy and intense, smelling like a bacon wrapped game bird. The palate was luscious and sexy smooth, with some light meat notes here as well. Lots of fatness to the body and huge richness. I quite like the palate flavors. Really puckering acidity on the finish which seems a little out of balance. Still delicious, but not very elegant. I originally guessed an Oregon Pinot from the Dundee Hills, and was quite surprised when I was told Burgundy. Then, it must be a Côte de Beaune wine of power, right? Corton? I was quite shocked when this wine was revealed and I find it showing totally atypically. The body is nothing of what 2007s are usually showing (this wine comes across as RIPE) and Vosne-Romanée, perhaps the most elegant of all villages, yet this wine showing a chunky awkwardness.

An Offer of Awesome Burgundy Inspires A Day of Tasting In the Willamette Valley (Willamette Valley): Cherries dominate the nose, bolstered by a hint of molasses and fresh radish. On the palate, it shows even, delicate cherries framed by firm acid at the perfect intensity. The acid holds on while raspberry flavors linger. The structure plays nicely with the wide variety of flavors exhibited. Throughout, I noticed rich apples, black pepper, and minerality along with the flavors mentioned above.

A day tasting in the Willamette Valley with the usual suspects (Oregon): Richer nose here than the Chambolle-Musigny with tasty red fruit. Less interesting nose, but more interesting palate for me. Red tea, red fruits, chalky earth, more body. A very full and nice feeling structure wraps everything, there is more flavor here with a longer mid-palate and a red fruit finish that lasts 10-15 seconds before lightening and letting the structure take over. I really liked this wine, this is a red burg I could get my mind around. Absolutely delicious overall. 91+

Lucien Le Moine at Scott Paul, and other WV because we're there (Carlton, OR): Again, soft and elegant nose, but this time a bit sexier. Smells of a gravel driveway after a wet car drove down it and kicked up dust. Pleasing and soft palate, with a lot more tannins than the Les Charmes, and builds some strong red apple component with additional aeration. Not too smooth on the palate. Lovely, soft and tart finish, much bigger than the Les Charmes, with nice structure. It gets softer and more supple on the finish after the wine has left the mouth after 10 seconds.
