BBQ early Jun 2023: not decanted; Rubin red color; bouquet of sour cherries, herbs de Provence and dark chocolate; smooth, with a sweet touch on the palate, well-balanced by a juicy, fruity acidity; long finish.
Excellent, fully mature Hermitage.

Color/App: moderately deep ruby core -> light ruby/garnet rim; appeared much younger that the '97 Chave Hermitage beside it. Very nice bouquet of black cherries and blackberries, underbrush and a touch of pepper. Palate followed suit with black fruit, bit of leather and sous bois. Big-boned, good acids and a nice finish but a bit of a hard, angular surface yet. Tough to taste next to the Chave; this came off as a savage young teenager next to a goddess in her prime. Group consensus was this could use another 2-3 years but was still quite enjoyable now.

9/23/2023 - LW31 Does not like this wine:
Cellar clear out. A bit tired and heavy handed fruit, dry finish. Dump.

Had a bottled that seemed muddled and unfocused. Even a bit tired. I think the bottle might have been bad.
