  • Our last bottle. The wine is deep red in color, plenty of earthy mixed berry aromas, mouthfilling berry fruit on palate along with some earth and spice, tannins are integrated now, alcohol not really noticeable, smooth and lengthy finish.

  • Traded with a friend for this many years ago. Decanted at 4 pm and tasted through about 10pm. Color is typical Cali Pinot of deep ruby with just a hint of brick on the edge. Frankly, I didn't think I would like it as it isn't really my style of Pinot, but it was a good example of a well made not over the top Cali Pinot. To be sure it is fruit forward, but it is earthy and quite chewy with plenty of black cherry fruit. Some (Burghound) noted it being a bit "hot" but I didn't notice the alcohol much at all. The finish was quite long as well. What seems to be missing is that acidic structure that gives great Pinot Noir such depth and yet brightness that I love. For the cost of this at auction though you can buy a bottle of Grand Cru Burg at retail (if you know where to look) from 2009 or 2004 (slightly less than the best vintages) that will significantly out shine it IMO.

  • Medium purple/red color. Pretty aromas of red and black cherries and wood spices. Beautifully constructed ripe fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length and totally integrated tannins and oak. Remarkably fresh and complex on the palate. Delicious and a real treat to drink with the outstanding pork tenderloin at Pumpkin Restaurant.

  • This wine drank like a wine 10 years younger. Vibrant, full and multi-layered. Perhaps not as fruit forward as if drunk before, but still a great balance and fruit and mouthfeel. Shows that pinot open and close over time and this was a good time to drink.

  • lots of nice, sweet fruit right off the bat, plenty of cherries, a little bit of wood and a bit of leather. Just about what I wanted out of a top Kistler pinot.
