Very smooth with tannins balanced and about as smooth as I've tasted. Nice cherry and violet aroma. Pick up cherry and blackberry and long finish. Think this can rest for another couple of years so may save remainder a bit longer.

This wine is at prime time and shouldn't go much longer - it's bouquet is melting. Violet essence with tannic edge smoothed considerably. Light Oak flavors - more like sweet woods and a dampered pimento spice. A nice wine but not sure that I would pay $50 per bottle.

Sawyer Cellars visit and tasting (Rutherford, Napa Valley CA): Tasting at winery. Black cherry and black berry aromas and flavors. Fruit is very typical for the vintage with moderate concentration. Tannins are slightly larger scaled than the fruit. give this a few years to soften.

Still in remarkably good form. Smooth tannins, red fruit on the palate, hint of cocoa on the nose. Very easy drinking and well balanced.
