  • Quite a palish, watery, raspberry red colour. Obvious pinot noir on the nose, with red fruits, lot of sous bois and the merest hint of VA. Good palate: really rather classy and elegant for a £3 wine. Light, but nice, clear, fresh pinot fruit characters. Tannins seem a lot more evident than in previous bottles. The main criticism of this would probably be that it's a bit thin. But I've had a lot more expensive "proper" Burgundies that have by no means been any more impressive than this.

  • Earthy red fruit hanging on, with some high tones to the fore. Has a remarkably classy feel in the mouth, especially for a £3 wine. Nice and together with a generally mature Burgundy feel. Certainly feels more together and livelier than the last bottle. It's only simple, but very enjoyable. Exceptional value.

  • Not quite high toned on the nose, but a bit elevated. Would guess it was more than 4 years old. Light, still fairly bright flavours in the mouth. Fading from when first bought, but possibly gaining in elegance. Still very light, but clearly a maturing burgundy. Still a bargain at £3. No regrets keeping it, but probably best to drink remaining bottles fairly soon.

  • Purchase inspired by a wine pages thread. £3 wasn't going to blow the budget, so like others I grabbed a bottle.

    Very pale red/red-claret colour and starting to show a significant band of age at the rim. On the nose some light but bright fruit a little smokiness/smoked meats. Light but pleasant.

    On the palate, the acidity sticks out a little and there's little depth of flavour (verging on watery), yet there are some cured meat flavours rivalling what fruit there is. Also a faint touch of camphor that was hinted at in the smokiness on the nose.

    A good shout from Tom Blach on this one - nothing stunning, but some typicity and for £3 it would be a good option for someone on a really tight budget, but who wanted to taste something other than sweet stretched fruit & woodchip wine or as a taster to see if Burgundy offered some interest.

  • Tastes like a light but proper burgundy - lots of earthy, bright pinot character. Some also used in cooking.
