Double blind tasting Deep ruby - opaque with mild bricking at rim Medium plus aromas of blue/ black fruit and meat/leather/ smoke with bitter woody herbal notes - prob old wood Medium plus body with palate more red/blue fruit driven - strong chalky component Medium plus tannins felt primarily on tongue and of medium/ coarse grain Medium alcohol and medium plus acidity with medium plus length This wine was quite dark for a Chianti and appeared a bit closed, even after sixteen years I called this a Rhone Syrah based on aromas and tannin profile but was very uncertain of my call - pretty shocked when the wine was revealed I really enjoyed this and think there may be better things to come My buddy paid $70 for this so I think the QPR is in question Drink now or hold 3-5 yrs

Deep ruby Aromatics medium to medium +. Mild blue fruits. Dry bitter leaf. Old oak Palate has medium body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium +, medium grained, well integrated on the upper teeth/gums. Alcohol medium. Red cherry, but chalky and dry Finish has medium length. Balanced Dry glass notes of mild barnyard/leather While this is a well balanced, food friendly and library aged wine, I really expected more at this age. Drink now as fruit is moving towards secondary.

no technical notes on this one but worth noting it was drinking very young, still big with plenty of fruit and a fine grained tannic spine

A little bold. Not as smooth as I expected.
