Wow.. golden color due to age. Apple, dried apricot, blossom, a hint of the riesling-petrol scent. More complexity on the pallet. Med body. alc 13% doesn't show. Great balance concerning the acidity and fruit. Good finish. It's at the end of drinking window, now at 10years of age. 4.3

beautiful golden color, on the nose typical, pronounced and fine smell of the Riesling grape. Good acidity and body; on the middle palate it is lacking however (a dip in the gustatory experience) Overall quite good, but a pricey wine

Lots of lime, minerals, sweaty socks and crushed sea shells mixed together on the nose. Big mouth feel with warm stonefruit. The mid-palate is really disappointing compared to the rest of the wine. Long and very appealing finish.

2008 on the other hand had rather low acidities and the Erste Gewachs has 7g. Nose is developing with a slight hint of stony minerality and some petrol nuances along with limey and citrucy aromas. Also some herbal aromas like dry onion - not very nice but could go away with some airing. In the palate it is balanced with white fleshed fruit and floral flavours and some salty minerality. Although fruit is towards the riper style like peach, apricot and pineapple this is more due to the rather warm 2008 vintage than the house style which lies towards the leaner, not powerful style with no botrytis and despite the residual sugar to the drier style.

VdP Rheingau Wine Presentation (Kloster Eberbach): More weight of fruit than the 2010, a bit more too it in general but still not up to scratch.
