At a perfect place for my palate. Still enough fruit to counter-balance the rich soil/loam/forest notes. Med/Med+ body, some brown spice, a little mushroom. It succeeds as much on the nose as the palate. If I had any, I'd not age them any more as there's simply too much to enjoy now vs. later. 14,0% abv. Best after the 1 hr open mark; PnP. recommended
Rolled the dice on this mark-down bottle as it had a pushed cork and stained label. The staining must have come from another bottle in the case as this cork was bone dry a full 3/4 of the way down. Deep magenta color with smallest of clear rim; deep, rich and youthful burgundian nose, great depth of dark red cherry fruit with blood iron and rich soil. Nice savory component. Some secondary qualities only barely showing. Powerful. Glad I took the chance!

Wow - this wine was a pleasant surprise. Stunning even. This is not a vintage I generally enjoy. But Guillon produced a real winner here! This was tasted in a lineup with 2006 D. Rion C-V and 2008 Arnoux C-V, and it was unanimous (or nearly so) that this wine was at the top. Came ripping out of the bottle with a huge floral and bright cherry nose and that nose kept pumping all night. Silky palate impression. The most "ready" wine of the three. In a great place right now. This was my first bottle of only 2, and I'm tempted to get into the second one soon...not because it is fading at all, but because it is so in the zone right now!

Close to Clos: Cherry, herb, smoke and blood. Really good tannin structure, with the fruit flowing well and the acidity playing a good supporting role. Plenty of time left to develop.

Vertical of Vougeot from Jean Michel Guillon (Chain Bridge Cellars, McLean, VA): sweet berry nose, very pretty, with tannins so soft you almost can't find them. Drink now through 2021.
