  • Followed over 10 hours after the pull. Very dark purple color, almost fully opaque. Clear and very slow legs, moderate sediment.
I get really nice mint, licorice, menthol, lavender, and dark berry pie on the lightly-powered nose. Palate took about 3 hours to fully come around and revealed fully integrated tannins and robust acidity. No where near the intensity and fruit must of the '03 and '04 versions of this wine, but has a deep, subtle hedonism that still serves the purpose of an Oz Shiraz. I'm also thinking there's an element of earth and minerals here that were not so apparent in the prior vintages. I think I'll move on to my '06 supply before coming back to my last '05 in year or two. 5+11+17+9 = 92
