  • PnP. Almost fully opaque purple and very slow, dark legs. Buttery blackberry, plum, prune, tobacco, roses, popcorn, and dried fig bouquet. Some vanilla and Christmas spice add to the finish. Just now heading into secondary nuance territory so I would love to have a couple more in the cellar. 5+12+17+8 = 92

  • Wow, what a surprise. Really restrained and old world in style, you'd be forgiven from thinking this was from the Rhone instead of down under. Violets and smoke and smooth tannin, I'm sad I only have one of these (even if it was close to $50). If you have any, don't be afraid to drink them, but give them a few hours of air or save them for another 3-5.

  • Thought it was a little underwhelming compared to last bottle, but then I finished the last 1/4 bottle about 4 days after opening and what a transformation. Extremely complex and intricate, the heat has vanished and although the plum has pruned, I'm enjoying it very much. still a 92-93

  • Very dark purple, 95% opaque with heavy legs. Needed a long 4hr decant to settle down. Nose is nicely brambled with big, meaty notes of plum and liqueur along with nice violet and lavender florals. Palate is like a great vintage port with lighter body, but similar in it's depth of sweet fruit flavor. No doubt, an in your face fruit bomb and one of my favorite guilty pleasures, but still seems built to age harmoniously. 5+12+18+8 = 93

  • Opened around 4pm and sampled about every 15min for a few hours. It was quite a rollercoaster as it opened up. At times the alcohol was stifling, next it was overly oaky, then it would just be all jam or sharply acidic, until finally, about 4 hours in it smoothed into a really fine expression. By the following morning, I think the true wine was showing itself. I can fully support p-blanc's description of elegance and fruit-driven power. And it certainly has nice tertiary character and complexity that makes me think "$80+" . The alcohol does ride a little high in the saddle, particulalry compared to the '03 version of this, which I thought was maybe a point or two above this vint. (5+12+17+7) = 91
