Riesling Rampage 2017: Kerosene and toast with lemon and grape aromas. The palate is very rounded and the brightness has started to soften out. Feels like this is close to hitting its peak.

Medium (+) lemon in color with some gold highlights, this is showing some signs of age. The nose is medium (+) to pronounced and developed, with pronounced aromas of petrol followed by some tropical fruit, stone fruit, citrus, sweet spice, pear and apple. The palate tastes much drier and cleaner than the nose, with medium intensity flavors of grapefruit, bitter lemon and green apple. The finish is medium in length. The acidity is medium but the mouthfeel is smooth and a little buttery, making it seem medium (+) bodied and softer than it really is. The alcohol is medium at 12.5%. This is drinking well now and is at its peak or slightly past, since it received a WS 91 rating more than four years ago. A very complex and intringuing wine considering the low price point.

Straw yellow. Citrus nose. Long soft creamy acid. Not much fruit left but a nice wine. Not a hint of diesel.

Medium lemon colour. Medium plus intensity of lime and buttered toast. Medium plus acidity. A very good wine which will evolve further.
