Coming into its own. Herbs, red fruit, lovely structure. Still needs a couple of hours in the Decanter to be st it’s best. One of the finest saint Josephs around? M Guerin makes a lovely wine. Served with rib of beef.

Shows what some cellar time will do for a St. Joseph that has good fundamentals: still some fruit; smooth and good length. Went great with a grilled pork tenderloin and a follow-on cheese plate. Wish I had more for the next few winter months.

Pure Rhone funk on the nose, with black fruit undertones and dark spice. Medium plus body and medium acidity, a bit of the funk comes through on the palate with touches of saddle leather and burnished wood. Not really showing any fruit, drink up.

(GERIN St. Joseph) Weekend Dear Friends, A few well-priced Rhones set to arrive shortly... If you are looking for top-end backyard or Sunday afternoon wines to enjoy over the next five years, this is one of the last 2007 parcels I’ve been able to find (at an enticing price). My guess is that most of you will be very happy to have these laying around the cellar when unexpected guests arrive or a party of one (you) dictates experimentation with the 2007 vintage but you can’t bring yourself to open a prized Chateauneuf-du-Pape. All are well above their level: 2007 Beau Mistral Rasteau Vieilles Vignes - Limited 24/person (compare at $20-28+) 2007 Charvin Cotes-du-Rhone 'Les Poutet' - Limited 60/person (compare at $20-25+) (while I wasn’t that enamored with this wine last year, it continues to get better and better. It has gained depth and structure with time in the bottle – it is more tannic and serious than the above review would have you believe – should be at peak in 3-4 years, not now - JR) Plus, a bonus wine that I find especially enticing despite my usual dissatisfaction with this producer. From a great vineyard source... 2007 Gerin St. Joseph - EXTREMELY LIMITED (if you admire the animal of Syrah that can only be found in this area of the world, you will thoroughly enjoy this wine - should continue to improve for several years – JR) To order any of the above: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to arrive in a few weeks (please check OARS for local pick up after Labor Day). It will ship during the Fall shipping season. Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure. For current local pick up and arrival/ship information, please see your OARS link below (at the bottom of this offer) - don’t know how to access your OARS? Lean and tannic vintage but this wine is full of flavor. Very impressive. Drinking well right now.

funky, earthy "medicine cabinet" aromas; lean mouth-feel, herbal, meaty flavors; fine tannins, acidic finish - nice with mortadella, peppered hard salami and aged Provolone on multi-grain bread #Fridayshootout
