easily a 90 pt wine. Tasted with 7. other spanish reds and didn't spend enough time with this to rate higher. Much more complex than other priorats I have had, not a fruit bomb like some. Highly enjoyed by all and split with a Ribera for wine of the night. Well worth the money! BTW- double decanted through vinturi about 2 hours before serving.

Plum jelly and the high alcohol dominates this wine - it is full bodied and a little smoky on the nose and that is pleasant enough, but palate is dominated by those two impressions and although a few hours of decanting improves it slightly, there are not many other nuances to be found. A 15% alcohol numbs my sense of taste for quite a while, and I'm prepared to admit that this wine may still improve w cellaring, but I really doubt if it's going to improve much. Basic structure of the wine is good, it is well made and I own a later vintage which I will keep a few years longer.

This is a beautiful example of the great care going into Priorat wines and why they command a higher price. Had it immediately following a very nice Montsant(almost completely surrounds Priorat). The Montsant's extra couple of years ageing may have seduced me into believing that this animal was ready. I think this will be scoring higher in a year or two.
Deep ruby color bordering on inky with a good viscosity but not extracted looking finish. Nose was a bit masked by the alcohol- ripe red fruits from the Garnatxa like raspberry and cherry with some darker fruit notes starting to appear after decanting. New oak ageing gave it a nice New World style finish with coconut and chocolate notes to tame the high alcohol levels. In the mouth, red fruits perfectly ripened with chocolate finish but faded from the palate very quickly. Hints of garrigue, tar and cedar come out in the finish.
Definitely needs some more cellaring.

Dark fruit, slate and smoke on the nose. Can feel the heat early. Very very silky smooth, with red cherry, pepper and cola on the tongue. Medium finish - pairs extremely well with cured lomo and manchego.

Smells a bit hot. Silky silky silky mouthfeel with lots of fruit. Cola on the finish. Very nice!
