At Zarzuela. Focused and mineral driven. This was a very nice CA Chard in a rather more modern burgundian style. Very popular with the others at dinner. Drink now and over the next two years.

Nose of buttered popcorn, oak and apricot. This is a big wine, while plenty of butter and oak is present the wine remains in balance. Complex with a very nice finish.

Cannot give a great description, was a social event. But, good nose or light fruit, taste had some pineapple and apple, good acid, with butterscotch and caramel ending.

In my current "rediscovery tour" of California chardonnays, this one is particularly rich and extracted. A pale yellow with greenish tinge, the wine has a nose of white fruits, flowers, and a slight yeasty or bready quality that is very attractive. It is full bodied and tastes of pear, pineapple, butterscotch, and has a thick mouthfeel with just barely enough acid to keep it fresh. The finish is very good. I liked this less than some other chards because it somehow seemed a bit too extracted and "butterscotchy", with not as much mineral qualities and a certain clarity that I prefer, all of which makes this a smidgin less food-friendly than it might be.

Cloudy in color. A lot of mineral and slate on the palate finishing with smoke on a lingering finish.
