  • What an amazing amoureuses delivering a haunting nose that is immediately captivating leaving no doubt as to its pedigree . Smoke, incense and dark cherry. It’s therefore unfortunate that the palate does not do the bouquet justice. A fine burgundy nonetheless and one should not hesitate trying a bottle now and leave the rest for another 5 to 10 years.

  • This is a beautiful and seductive wine; I can see why Les Amoureuses has the reputation it does! Second bottle of from this famed 1er cru for me and this was singing. The nose is just classic Chambolle sex appeal; ripe red berries, floral, mineral inflected, a hint of earth, a bit of sweet spice. The palate has impressive depth and balance for an '08 and really shows the classic power without weight phenomenon of good Burgundy. Excellent and probably still getting better.

  • We loved the bottle last week so decided to have another. Completely different wine. Darker fruit, cabbage, nail polish remover, so let’s call that VA. Plus maybe a bit corked. Sigh.

  • I opened a few of these 9-10 years ago, and found them a bit course and out of balance. I mentally raised a fist at Frank Murray, whose note encouraged me to buy a case. Times have changed.

Decanted and started to drink after an hour.

Beautiful delicate light ruby, almost rose, ultra transparent.

Early on the nose was reticent, but after a few hours was a bit more giving on the red fruit side of spectrum, with hints of more, including green notes. The nose was the least of this wine, but since the end was best, I suspect, we just drank it too fast.

The mouthfeel was terrific. No density at all, just a lithe caress. So elegant and light. And the flavor was gorgeous light red fruit, just developing tertiary notes. If the nose develops like this, OMG, what a wine.

    Thanks FMIII.

  • Perfumed floral, forest floor, transparent wet stone like minerality and bright red and sour cherry notes with some sweet spices. Delicious.
