The Orma 2006 has been a wine I have loved since realease. I left this last bottle to see how it was when pushing the limits and now I can say it is going downhill without introducing more tertiary notes to compensate the evolution. Still a good wine, and very good in many aspects, but it lost some balance.
Dark ruby color Evolved black currant, raspberry and black cherry at the nose, with hints of rosemary, sage and liqorice. Medium acidity and the tannins got more dusty. It lost some of the profound velvet touch it had.
A pleasure to drink but, given the wine's DNA, I wouldn't wait one day more as it is loosing balance.
Uncorked 2 hours in advance, perfect cork, and opened the shoulder. Then drank it over 2 more hours in large burgundy Zalto. Not decanted by choice as I prefer to evolve it in my glasses than, uncontrolled, in a decanter unless there is a specific need for it.

Two hours in decanter. Earthiness, berries, tobacco, elegant and smooth, well balanced. Medium power. Impression as right bank Bordeaux. A treat.

Two bottles. One scored 88 and the other 91. Nice match to Helmeted guineafowl with garlic polenta by Nicolas Gunslay.

Underwhelming after 2 hour decant. Tight. Maybe needs more time? Hopefully better night 2.
Better on night 2. This may need a few years.

Very big and bold. Probably a little young.
