Decanted with stir and back into bottle 30 min before serving, and it opened quickly. Deep deep ruby color. Earth, tobacco, and herbal blackberry on the nose. Blackberry, dark cherry, graphite, and then plum and dark chocolate on the palate with 30-35 sec finish. Surprising how fresh and youthful this seemed, very similar to a young Mount Veeder cabernet with a rounder plum and chocolate finish. Great pairing with Italian food.

Popped, poured, consumed over next two evenings. Oak is fully absorbed and integrated now. Beautiful balance of fruit and acidity. Excellent complexity, developing wonderfully, but despite 15 years, still in its initial stages of aging and feels like it will go for a long time with more to come from cellaring. Very nice intensity, but maintains its silky elegance though the lingering, expanding finish.

I like it a lot . Cellared at 56 since release. Tart palate on opening. But immediate nose of blackberry, cherry, subtle creosote, earth, and camphor. Lingering vanilla but very subtle. Great bouquet! Needed an hour to open in decanter. Plumped up and dark fruits came out. Perfect balance. Showing no signs of decline. It paired marvelously with Prime New York strip. Not too much Mallard on the steaks (my bad) so its probably a great prime rib wine. The real paring was with Pepperidge Farms Chocolate chunk cookies, the Nantucket and the Chesapeake. However, real magic happened after dinner as my Italian loving wife gave it up. A true 100 pointer! I need a case of this stuff! Shush! Don’t tell her but the cookies were a close second.

Last bottle
Opened in advance but no decanting, just used a Riedel PN stem to let it aerate well.
In great condition and in full "drink now" moment in my opinion.
MAture black cherries and raspberries, sage and rosemary, balsamic notes emerging just at the end together with wet leather.
Great mouthfeel, smooth, lively acidity, fully integrated tannins.
Long finish.
