Purchased and cellared on release. Dried cork which crumbled on opening. Clear garnet, with rather funky barnyard which blew off somewhat with air Completely resolved, but just so, I think most readers may have drunk this early (last CT note 2014). Tart and lively, but not likely to develop further, I’d drink up. I’m afraid this will soon dry up.
Actually with an hour of air this opens up magnificently This is why we age wine

Nice nose of violets and toasted oak. Sour cherry flavors melt nicely with oak. Typical earthy understated Burgundian flavors. Smooth finish. Lovely with pork sausage, blue cheese and sweet potato casserole

Worrisomely advanced on the nose, with red cherries muddled with brown sugar, stewed tomatoes and a bit of heat. Thankfully the palate is much different. Medium bodied with a lush mix of cherries and blueberries supported by medium acidity. Finishes long on a high-toned, cranberry note. This is drinking well now, no hard edges, but has the stuffing to last a few years. I'll have a hard time keeping my hands off these.

2002 Oregon Pinots - Tasted Blind (Tom's house in Palo Alto, California): Fairly transparent red, with brown/orange edge color. Medium nose with a nice cherry, licorice smell. Some brett. Soft palate. Tasted blind.
My #3, Group's #5

Blind Tasting 2002 Oregon Pinots (with pre's and Burg ringers) (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Spicy, slightly bretty nose. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Delicate sweet cherry fruit, earth and bit of black tea. Very nice but the brett detracts. (my 4th, group's 5th - Flight 2)
