APPEARANCE: The colour is between deep gold and pale brown.
NOSE: Lots of citrus, with dried orange peal, lime, bergamot and orange blossom honey. Sweet, very ripe peaches and yellow plums. Peach stone, marzipan, hint of almonds. Oily, petroleum. Minerality and a hint of smoke. With time the nose expands and becomes very rich, filling even the empty glass with an intense perfume (91p) On day 2 the nose has become slightly more defined; sharper, fruitier, smokier and with a richer overall perfume. (92p)
TASTE: The arrival is sweet but not overly so. On the mid palate orchard fruits; citrus and others, honey, flowers, light treacle, proper earl grey tea. Viscous. The exit displays honey, bergamot and smoke, continuing into a long aftertaste. (89p) On day 2 the taste has become even more defined, with clean cut flavours; all yesterday’s flavours but the citrus, the floral side and the high quality bergamot tea aspect are all clearer, sharper and the wine is better. (90p)
OVERALL: Very nice, fully mature and well balanced Recioto di Soave from an excellent producer. Perhaps not very complex but a lovely wine which drinks very well now. Will keep several more years but I’m not sure it will improve (drink until 2021). Benefits from airing.
TOTAL SCORE: Originally 90 points but based on day 2; 91 points.

One if the best sweet whites I have had. Not overpoweringly so. Another hit from this solid producer.
