I'm not sure why I had higher expectations but this wine showed like and ok, average Malbec. It looked nice and dark blue-plum red but the body did not live up to the color. It had some sharp bite in the mid-palate and a ho-hum finish. I saw nothing special in this Malbec

Deep red with violet edges. It has aromas of black fruit, wood and slight cocoa notes. It was balanced, very smooth, medium tannins and long aftertaste. This is slightly past it's peak and should be drunk.

Lots of wine for only $8.60. Sure, it’s a bit rough around the edges, rustic with its sun-dried blackberry and its lingering note of black licorice, but I have tried wines that cost $4-$5 more than this, and I could say the same thing about them. The acidity is refreshing; just keep the bottle slightly chilled and you get a very, very drinkable wine for under $10, which is a very rare occurence. Drink now. Food pairing: grilled white meats with sun-dried tomatoes.
