A big excellent chardonnay. Upon opening the bottle the initial aromas were of grapefruit and when pouring the thickness of the wine was very evident. In the glass the scents were of tart oranges, peaches, and a little oak. On the palate a butteriness with peaches, spice, and a little citrus finishing with a nice clean mid palate minerality. After about a half hour the wine becomes more buttery with even smoother minerals. I don't think this wine will improve much with additional cellaring and will probably still be at peak for another 3 or 4 years. A big complex California chardonnay.

Lots of great Cabs, Syrahs and others NVW&C (Napa Valley Wine & Cigar): Another wine that people liked more than I but here I know why. There is a lot of toasty oak on this one, both the nose and the palate. Also some grapefruit. It has a creamy texture with nice acidity. I had a harder time dealing with the oak although it did smooth out with some air. Some thought it was too cold, but I thought that helped the acidity. Obviously well crafted if you like this style.

Nose reveals lemon cream, custard-like aromas, plenty of cantaloupe, blossom floral (almost a floral perfume), some toasty earth and a beautifully balanced dose of malolactic flavors. Also a subtle undercurrent of tropical banana and coconut. Very subtle. Good minerality. Needless to say, this wine´s bouquet´s got it going on! Palate is beautifully balanced, full bodied, with some tannins and an absolutely rich finish that lasts long. This wine made me think of a favorite cologne of mine: Del Mar by Baldessarini. Sure enough, upon confirmation there are similarities. Back to the wine: it is a joy that is drinking great now, but can be put away for a few. But why? I say open now and enjoy it.

The wine appears greenish-gold colored, slightly cloudy with slow forming legs. On the nose: Fuji Apple, Lemon, Pineapple, yellow flowers, perfume and dust. Tastes of Lemon, Apple and Pineapple with a bitter finish. Acid: Med+, Alcohol: Med+, Finish: Long
