  • A blend of Chardonnay and Viognier made without any added sulfites. Officially an NV as this is a Vin de Table, the back label states this is Lot 2016/04/03/17. 12% alcohol.

Cloudy greenish-white lime color. Wild, aromatic and cidery nose with dry aromas of cider apples, cool herbs, apricots, some sweeter exotic fruits, a little bit of gummy bear candies and something slightly funky, perhaps a touch of brett. The wine is fresh, medium-bodied and lively on the palate with a little bit of CO2 prickle. Flavor-wise the wine feels more ripe and fruit-forward than the nose with flavors of ripe apples, sour peaches, some white fruits and a little bit of stony minerality. Although bone-dry, the ripeness of the fruit suggests enough sweetness to give the wine good balance. The structure is pretty great, thanks to the relatively high acidity. The finish is ripe, wild and a bit green with flavors of sweet white fruits, some grassy green character, a little bit of fresh apple and a hint of bretty funk that seems to develop into a lightest touch of mousiness after awhile.

A fun, really characterful and very unique natural wine with good combination of freshness and ripeness. I can understand why some people think of this wine as cidery, but for me this is much more vinous than cidery - I've had a lot more cider-like wines whereas this feels more like a normal (natural) white wine with a bit of CO2 prickle and hazy appearance. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that dirty hint of mousiness towards the end of the aftertaste, but fortunately it isn't noticeable enough to ruin the wine. An interesting wine by all accounts, but perhaps not the wine you'd actually want to seek out. This is still a wine you'll definitely want to try out if you happen to come across a bottle, though.

  • More refined than previous bottles. Lemon, lime, apples. Less funk, complex. Interesting.

  • Tasty, but unremarkable. Good with fried chicken. Not much unique character.

  • 009. Lot of drinkability. Lacks the acidity, but has a high amount of bitternes. Still found some fruit in it even though it has got some years on the back.

  • 2010 Vintage. As the previous bottle, was much better with some air. Ripe fruit, almost a sensation of a little bit of RS. Pear and apple with spices. Yeast, a touch of apricot. A little cider aspect. Enjoyable.
