Peter's 40th Birthday celebration at Nicolas. There had to be Musigny somewhere and here it came, courtesy of the generous host. Deep red, with significant browning and almost amber on the rim. Barnyard, old leather, rust and blood on the nose. Developed well in the glass, to show more wiltered roses, marzipan, manuka honey and a touch of soy. Palate was slightly acidic, prunes and raisins, truffles, mushrooms and chocolate at the very end, with some tea leaves and tobacco.

Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner with Musicians (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Tasted twice in the evening, small tastes both times. At first this came across as slightly bretty and uninteresting. Cleaner and nicely mature an hour+ later, still not to the level to expect from Musigny, but quite nice.
