Dark almosted roasted aromas of dense black fruits with underlying baking spice. Big fruit weight with nice rich mouthfeel, a bit riper than expected, yet has some interesting nuances. Good finish, but touch compact. Seems to be far from peak and a touch rustic.
1999 Burgundy 1er Dinner (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Tasted single blind alongside Meo-Camuzet 1999 Brulees. This clearly showed attractive Vosne baking spice character with mostly black fruit that was reasonably dense and mature with good earthy elements as well as the firm nature I often associate with Malconsorts.
This is the sort of wine that makes believers out of Burgundy skeptics. Like so many other 99's this one is just drinking beautifully right now. Gorgeous nose, lots of mature pinot fruit balanced by great acidity and smooth tannins. Very nice.
