Violet and black fruit aromas from the cork. Crushed black fruits, red currant, prune, all surrounded by forest floor/earthy aromas. Medium-full bodied and complex with more dark fruits, prune, and pepper that give way to vanilla and hints of black licorice and milk chocolate on palate. Very good acidity. Light spice on smooth, long finish. Dusty tannins will still evolve for another 2 years, but drinking great right now. Highly recommended and a steal, if you can get your hands on it.

Quite impressive for the price. No, it doesn't quite compare to the 09 St Joseph I had recently, but at 2/3 the price, it makes for a interesting counterpoint to the old world syrah it is trying to emulate. It is still new world in its exuberant fruit. Dark cherry, pencil shaving, peppery, oak and vanilla. Juicy acidity and good length. Make sure you serve it slightly chilled given the heat wave we have been getting lately.

Very very good in 2017. The wine had mellowed very well. Good value as well.
