  Opaque purple in color. Nose of earth, muddy grass, blackberries, pepper, tomato sauce, cinnamon, and spice. Spicy flavors with blackberries - yummy!

  Very interesting wine. Nose of black fruit (with some fig thrown in), espresso/chocolate, mint, and a mixed bags of spices (very complex nose). On the palate, the fruit takes a back seat to the overwhelming black pepper. Some might think it's out of balance, but it was just very interesting to me (and a nice departure from the Cali fruit bomb). Tannins are also evident. There was no mistaking that this was a syrah, but the complexity of the wine was remarkable. I have another bottle that I will sit on for a few more years.
