Had the privilege to taste this (blind) via the generosity of Xavier94: effusive and beautiful nose of classic apple underpinning, buttery minerality, smoke and white flowers with a citric core; full bodied breadth of palate. Had me thinking Batard, but shocked to hear the clue that it wasn't gran cru. Rich and fat, then the acid kicks in from mid-palate onward. Glorious wine, harmonious, fully mature and in a perfect place. I loved it a bit more than John. 94+

I probably should have let this open up before offering it to my tasting partner but what can ya do. It does change significantly over the first 30 minutes. No signs of premox! Fabulous conditioni. Rich put retains some of the lilting, whispy florality of Puligny, as Joe picked up right away. Lots of smoke-like minerality, butterscotch, toffee, nutmeg, spring flowers, damp fern or something? I also detected a very ripe impression to fruit, showing almost lime-like qualities but this changes into the more traditional lemon custard and orchard fruit profile. Plenty of fat and richness to carry this through. A very rich Champs Gain.

A Burgundy Paulée with the Chevaliers du Tastevin (Hooked Market & Kitchen, Latham, NY): Nose of mature sweet lemons and pears. Long and complex. When Remoissenet is on, it is great!
