  • Medium ruby. On the nose the aromas are of medium + intensity with salalmi, violets, red cherries, black plums, black berries, earth, mushrooms, green olives, smoke, tar, chocolate, black pepper, vanilla. On the palate the wine is of medium + acidity, medium + fine velvety tannins, medium + body, med + alcohol and medium + intensity on the palate with salalmi, violets, red cherries, black plums, black berries, earth, mushrooms, green olives, smoke, tar, chocolate, black pepper, vanilla. The finish is long and of blackberries, toast and smoke. The wine is outstanding, with the acidity, tannins and alcohol all in fine balance, complexity with black and red fruits, spice, toast/oak notes, tertiary notes (earth, meat) all evident with good intensity on the nose and palate. The finish is complex and lingering. Drinking well now, but can age another 7 -10 yrs with the ample acidty, fruit and tannins.

  • Euro Themed Lunch - Rhones (Donato Enoteca, Redwood City, CA): Great powerful, meaty, spicy nose. A little hot and a hint of sweetness. Still quite tannic.

  • Meaty nose with a bit of exotic spice. Very concentrated but the tannins are ripe and smooth. Lovely savoury palate with a hint of green pepper. Goes on and on.
