Out of magnum. Decanted and then drunk over 2 hours. Needed time to open and pure deliciousness came from waiting. Drink or even hold for a couple of years. Truly a work of winemaking.

shared with pat at selkirk manor. celebrating the end of the work week and respite from COVID-19 before it strikes again. i continue to prune the cellar of wines with past due drink by dates. was holding on to this wine due to it's price point. finally decided it was not worth the risk of holding any longer. glad to have caught the wine at what i believe is the ideal point in its development. an amazing performance from what i believe may be the oldest (years past vintage) cali chard that i have ever had. dare i say "curb your enthusiasm"? i mean that in the best possible way. to me, the wine is exciting. but not in a very tasteful and reserved manor. others of described pale color. this bottle showed slightly golden color but no signs of oxidation. great balance between generous green apple and lemon, oak an acidity. overall, top tier cali chard. d. r. has announced his retirement although he promises to keep his hand on the grapes. must enjoy his talent as long as we can. for this wine, i urge those holding bottles to enjoy soon.

Linda's Birthday with Hanbun: A very good Cali Chard with lots of ripe apple, integrated oak, and a lush ripe quality with some heat on the finish. From a magnum and quite enjoyable, but not a stand out for me.
