Not good notes. However wine opened up and became fruitier and showed more complexity & spice after decanting for 1hr. Finish was soft though. Enjoyed and would buy again in the $15 - $17 range.

2nd bottle. Color: garnet; Nose: sour cherry, barnyard; palate: sour cherries, barnyard, a little leather/spice. Acidity is moderate-strong. A bit soft on the palate with light tannins. Quite drinkable but I've had many riojas that have been more balanced or with more power or both. Ready to drink now. Not a great QpR at $20.

On the nose, clove, pumpkin pie spice, caramel and a little earthiness. Tart cherries and cola upfront, with a good deal of spice on the mid-palate and finished with a nice spiced vanilla flavor. Good acid too.

Maybe my last bottle had something wrong with it, but this was much better. A bit more creamy oak initially, everything just seemed smoother and better integrated. Not a bad deal at all.

Out of the bottle, there was some oak up front that disappeared pretty quickly and was replaced by soft Tempranillo flavors that are decently balanced. Acidic, but without a good balance from tannins, leaving the impression of a tart, sour wine. Would be good with food, but on its own leaves something to be desired.
With some air, it evolved to show some bitter fruit stone flavors. Would be a decent everyday wine, but nothing real special.
