  • BBQ at our house. This Post House was only supposed to be an alternative/backup to a lineup of mature Bordeaux but came into play as one of the Bordeaux was corked. It followed after a marvelous bottle of 1988 Château Cos d'Estournel, obviously a tough spot to be in. Consequently, the Post House seemed simple and rustic in comparison. To be re-tasted. NR

  • The wine was medium to dark ruby in colour and offered red, blue and dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, cinnamon and liquorice on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red, blue and dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, some tobacco, cinnamon and a tarry/charred wood component, supplemented by intense liquorice on the finish, with medium-level acidity, fine, medium to medium-plus tannin and good length. This medium- to full-bodied, coffee + chocolate + liquorice-driven wine was reasonably balanced despite moderate heat from the alcohol. Very good value at only EUR 9,50. Would buy again.
