Aged well with the vibrant hues of a much younger bottle. The smaller fizz gave away the age as did the deep brioche and candied fruit flavors somewhat like an aged sauternes. Very pleasant and always cool to have vintage Champagne with the high art dimpled bottle.

Is a little past it’s prime, but still really interesting floral and palette notes of dried apricot, skinned tangerine, minced flower, and yeasty bread.

Interesting wine, as the palate has a distinct caramel note, yet it finishes with fairly lively acid. I picked up some faint citrus notes on the nose. Definitely drink now if you have them.

Outstanding Old World Napa Cabs: This wine really seemed to show its age, especially for a 2002, but still drinking quite well. The wine was slightly oxidized, but still quite lively and acidic. Nose showed hay, some funk, some fruit and some chalk. The palate showed ripe stoned fruit, saline and limestone, with a slight hint of caramel on the finish. A nice 2002 Champagne that I would recommend drinking sooner than later, based on this bottle. A solid 92.

A stacked cabernet lineup (James and Carrie's house): Slightly oxidative with some caramel, lots of acid, citrus and distinct almond extract. Different than what I'm used to for champagne.
