Rockss and Fruit

(Pierre Yves Colin-Morey Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatieres") This was good wine but not all that exciting. Should be considering the tariff. And this was before the 2005 Burgundy pricing bender. Mineral nose that got stankier with air. This was way oaky in its youth but has sucked it all up with a little bit of age. No premox either! Palate was elegant, but not all that complex or concentrated. Just kind of boring. Finish was medium and thats it. Didn't even finish the bottle.

(Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Puligny-Montrachet "Les Folatieres") Out of the gates this had a beautifully mineral nose with lots of white flowers and toasty oak. After aeration the nose picked up a celery/saline element and grew more layered and complex. Big and rich on the palate and packed with fruit. Borders on sweet but is very typical of '02. Long finish with lots of extract and silky, sweet fruit. Very lemony finish. Brilliant focus and wonderful acidity. Not showing much complexity now but amazingly yummy.
