  • Dark yellow, classic mature Chenin flavours, luscious mid-palate, mineral long finish. Greatly exceed expectations.

  • Had the last bottle, this was superb, mature and satisfying.

  • N: No chemical smell, pure cut green apples, palate in a very similar way to previous tasting note. Lovely wine.

  • N: honey, white flowers and an initial faint whiff of something corked or chemical (formaldehyde?). Anyway, it never completely dissipated, but wasn't too distracting. Despite the aromas, the wine was clean on the palate. Had a searing acidity that made it a great pairing with oysters.I thoroughly enjoyed the unusual flavors, like it was almost hinting at a vin jaune on the nose, yet follows its own profile on the palate. Has density and texture which make it a wine to contemplate.

Great wine, holding up just fine.

  • Golden rim with a fair amount of color depth. Aromatically plenty of floral apple, quince, and other exotic (not tropical) type fruits framed by big minerality and the slightest hint of honey.. no new barrique notes, no diacetyls... wine has appropriate amount of 'maturity' or 'oxidation' for its age On the palate the wine is dry with very high, aggressive acidity, low phenolics, low ETOH. Wine balance wise is a bit firm still, length is ok, intensity is good, complexity is very good. Certainly a lot of finesse, texturally pleasant but has a very minerally/slightly hard edge to it, superb expression of Savennieres. This is not a particularly freindly example of chenin, though Savennieres rarely is, and was never such even when young from what I remember... lacks a bit of charm, could use a bit more depth, but for those who like angular, acidic whites this will be a lot of fun to drink. For intellectual purposes this wine still has many years ahead of it and will go through many more phases... stick in a cold cellar and check again in 10+ years, what the heck, it's not like it has a lot of charm to lose. For the price an amazing amount of intellectual value over a very long period of time here.
