  • Darker translucent ruby. Nose of violets, sharp perfume, raspberry, musky earth. Layers of concentrated but ripe black cherry fruit, iodine, iron granules, and loam on the deep drilling palate. Brisk acidity and firm tannin. Longer finish of echoing dark fruit with hints of iron and crags. Nicely done and capable of further positive evolution.

NOSE: red-fruited; clean; red licorice; high-toned; a slight weedy note; medium+ expressiveness.

BODY: garnet color of medium-shallow depth; medium-light to medium bodied.

TASTE: medium+ acidity; medium-light, tart, red fruits --- a bit thin; 13.8% alc. a touch noticeable; red currant and cherry; light, bitter florals on the mid-palate; the palate did fill-in and become more complete over the course of the bottle being open; Drink Now with lots of air, or continue to Hold.

  • My first of the bottles purchased upon release. I believe this is one of the wines that received extended elevage. Enticing aromatic start with floral elements, baking spice and a broad array of red fruit with faint earth hints. Similar flavors also bring out some black cherry, all rich to start, then much more subdued from middle through finish. Spice emerges nicely on finish. Very good now, this should drink well for another decade.

  • Delicious! PNP at a small dinner party. Disappeared quickly.

  • I would say this is, surprisingly, mature. Deep fruit and minerals but a veil of brett gives it a very earthy impression, which ultimately, mars the wine.
