Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 93 points

  • Tasted blind, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose showed apples, minerals, and lemons.

In the mouth, this wine was pretty mellow at first. However, it developed quite well in the glass. It was medium bodied with excellent lemony acidity and nice stone in the finish. There was just a bit of leanness and quirkiness to the acidity that held this wine back from a higher score.

This bottle appeared to be in pretty good shape. It came across a bit like a high-end Sauvignon Blanc. I am not sure how much air it got but I doubt it will be getting better. 93+/94- Enjoy!

  • Shy, it gradually unfurls with air in a metaphorical kabuki dance, eventually revealing stunning aromatic complexity leading into a lithe complex palate of minerals and seashells all played in a low key. Timeless and from a bygone era. I see no reason why well stored bottles won’t last another decade or two.

  • Lovely green-tinged lemon gold color. Lean, elegant aromas of brioche, lemon and mussel shell minerality. Lithe, lean and sprightly on the palate, this is classic Perrières for those, like me, who relish restraint and terroir-expression over obviousness and upfront fruit. Great wine.

  • Gorgeous medium lemon gold color and classic Perrières notes of flinty earth and lemon zest. This has plenty of '88 austerity, but the wine's gorgeous aromatics, juicy acidity, wheat thin toastiness, mineral core and wild yeast funkiness make this a fun ride. Give it plenty of air or decant it before tasting.
