Fragrant fruit both black and red. Blueberry; blackberry along with raspberry and rhubarb. Accompanied with road tar; dusty tannins; persimmon; tobacco leaf. Light to medium bodied, finishes thin. Nicely spiced and drinking well now.

Saturated med ruby, aromas of toasty oak, tobacco, faint blackberry, b4, a4, t4, big w/gritty, rustic astringent tannins, slight herbal streak, nothing special but certainly drinkable, bit too much wood

Med blackish ruby, aromas of tangy plum, spices, minerals, charred wood, some heat, wax halloween candy, cinamon, spearmint!, peppermint, cedar, green herbs, citrus, strawberry, b2, a2, t3, flavors similar to nose, nice, starts round & soft w/rustic coarse tannins cutting in, sweet fruit lingers, red berry, w/air more charred wood

I must revise my initial assessment of this wine. After pouring out a glass on 12/11 and being rather disappointed with it, I squirted the remainder with a wine-preservative gas and left it on the counter. Three days later I returned to it, and much to my surprise the wine was lovely--the somewhat "baked" initial quality had dissipated; the wine tasted fresh and racy, with bright acidity on the attack, excellent cherry fruit-flavors in the mid-palate, and a long, drying finish full of (pleasant. not sharp) mouth-coating tannins. I don't have any more of this wine but if I did I would put the rest of the bottles away for 2-3 years before (full of anticipation!) cracking the next one open. NB: I'm still drinking this wine nearly a week after opening it (using a spray-in gas as a between-drinking preservative) and it remains immensely satisfying.

Not as full bodied as an earlier encounter. It could be a dumb period or just a unexiciting bottle.
