Super luscious, but enough acidity to keep it respectable, the 2009 Les Cruzelles toes the line between New and Old World. Loads of Merlot fruit, earthy notes, a super-smooth mouthfeel, and fairly long finish make this a total winner for the ~$40 price.
A little better balance than a year ago... I said I'd wait 5 years, but I waited 10-1/2 months instead. 2 hours in the decanter and the alcohol settled down quite a bit. Still youthful and tasty.

This is still a baby! What a beautiful concentrated Lalande De Pomerol. Deep cherry body and garnet rim. Sediment is present and fine grained so be careful not to disturb the sediment and decant carefully. Nose is wide open after 2 hours. Plum, saddle, herbal, attic notes. Slow moving full tear legs and a medium light body in the mouth. Blackberry, plum, cocoa and leather dominate the pallet with alcohol covering the middle and minerality, cedar/pencil and oak showing through during the lingering finish after the heat dissipates. The aftertaste is quite a pleasant plum pit. I hope the heat from the alcohol will be a little more integrated when I pop my next bottle in about 5 years.

Decanted and vigorously swirled. Plums, liquorice, very slight leather. On the palate it's quite dense and rich but savoury with black coffee and bitter chocolate more to the fore than the plum (which is present). I think I'm growing to like.

Still not ready, I think. Tannins are OK but the alcohol still dominates what should by now a well balanced wine.
