After reading a few of MadisonWIneguy's notes on this, I thought its time to try my other bottle. Previous bottle in '11 was OK but not wow. This has some wow.
Throws some sediment and pours out dark. Complex and deep aromas of blueberry, smoke, leather, and heat. Similar flavors with a juicy and full body. Alcohol is deftly hidden, 14.3% ABV. That is until you finish 2 glasses with a small lunch.

Brought this to Tornado Room, a killer steakhouse here in Madison. Usually pair my NY Strip with an aged Cab, but knew this '06 Syrah would do the trick just as well. The smoke, leather, and blueberry combined with the seasonings and the fat from the meat was exquisite. 93 pts.

Love it. Split a case with a good friend and feel like we struck liquid gold. Big blueberry, a little currant, some smoke, nutty oak, and leather all jump from the glass, the nose is just fantastic. And the palate doesn't disappoint one bit. The blueberry, smoke, and leather are most prominent here, with a little licorice too. This is a mouth-filling, rounded, well-developed wine ready for complete enjoyment. You'll appreciate the chalky/dry yet juicy finish that'll keep your mouth watering for quite a while. After having LOVED a 4 pack of '03-'04 Cabs (2 of each) from Longfellow, this was an absolute no-brainer. Let it breathe for 20-30 minutes to allow some of the oak to blow off and balance with the fruit. It's just terrific. Tastes like a $40-$60 bottle easily. 93+ pts.
