  • Dead and disgusting. Both bottles!

  • If there was a scaled category below Avoid, this would fit within. I'm being generous with my score. This wine had not turned. This experience is running consistent with the last bottle I had of this vintage, albeit I was graciously kind in scoring. Even my wife took one sip and couldn't go back. The best way I can describe the taste of this wine? Tabasco. Ugh

  • A deep purple coloring accompanied a green unripe, stemmy wine upon opening. After about an hour, the leaness abated somewhat allowing a structured, tannic fruit based wine to reveal glimpses. It never improved after the first hour but was drinkable (would have been better as a cooking wine).

  • In short, this wine represents the epitome of why we discontinued our club membership. At the time of its release, Roger commented, "Always one of our most popular wines. Beautifully integrated Remond French Oak. We think this may be the most concentrated and rich version of this popular wine so far." Once Sideways came out in '04, their heads got explosive. Prices got jacked-up tremondously, snobery at the greating table, and unwillingness to collaborate with local vintners. It's not a turned wine but it's far from a Syrah. Terrible. Why they think they're above everyone else with juice like this is beyond me. My score is generous. Unfortunately I have one more bottle like this to endure. Ugh.
