  • Wow, another reason we are so pleased to have a wine cellar. What a treat. Over 15 years old, and very much still hanging in there. I think we caught it just in time. This does not taste like a young wine. Instead, it is a still vibrant, middle aged wine. Almost black in color, all the way to the rim. The nose is blueberry pie, with melted butter on top. The fruit is so cool, layered ripe blueberries, with a little bit of raisin, and blackberry syrup. Not very heavy in the mouth. The acid has taken a nap, leaving a nice vanilla laced, buttery, black licorice on the top of the palate. Very well rounded and super integrated, no notice of alcohol at all. There is still some of that green pepper, herbal taste, that at this time in the wine's evolution, only helps. There is a leathery, almost sweet boysenberry note on the finish, which also has some fountain cola from the 1960's. Very nice, wish we had some more

  • Vibrant fruit. Ripe dark cherries. Hints of oak, soft tannin, earth, anise. Medium bodied with a medium finish.
