A massive nose swarms from the glass, possessing dense red fruit, salty minerality, some old wood, baking spices and coffee. To put it short the nose is so incredibly complex and exciting that it totally makes one forget about the surrounding world. On the palate the wine is just as intense, rich and captivating as on the nose. Despite being very rich and full bodied there are no signs of flabbiness or clumsiness. The mousse is sizeable, dense and long lasting, and perfectly integrated. The plentiful fruit is quite ripe, yet a bit sour and savoury at the some time and thus extremely delicious. I have hard time pinpointing the fruit flavors but that is because the wine is so nuanced and complex, not because of anonymity. There is a lot of power, breadth and concentration, yet the wine drinks like good Riesling. I can not taste the oak but I can still feel its effect on the wine's texture overall grandness. This is a thorougly captivating, masterfully crafted wine, clearly made from top notch grapes. To me this Champagne is of prestige cuvée quality and thus excellent value at 55 €.
