Community Tasting Notes (14) Avg Score: 88.1 points

  • Medium deep gold, nutty nose, some citrus - seems like the aged character is overwhelming the GV varietal character (although that may be a fair trade) - rich nose, a honeyed note - mid weight palate, elegant, not a powerhouse nor the last word in depth, but nice, good length, v well balanced, in a great spot right now - good fruit still, but dry, winey, with GV nuttiness/spiciness livening up the finish

  • Had this a few nights ago. Golden yellow in colour, with mainly citrus and stonefruit notes on the nose. Medium bodied with solid concentration. Nicely balanced with good acidity. This should last several years yet (A-).

  • An evolving wine, notes are basing on impression of day 3.
Full scale nose, peach and tropic fruits. Appealing palate, freshness, good acid, minerality and some depth, medium+ finish. Benchmark GV, an impressive wine, will hold another 6-8 yrs+.

  • Austrian Riesling with AuZone (AuZone, Stockholm): Rather golden yellow colour. Nose with ripe yellow fruit, citrus including zest, tropical fruit, a hint of smoke, some flowery notes, possibly also some botrytis. Palate with good concentration, ripe citrus, some tropical fruit, medium+ acidity, slightly oily and with a hint of bitterness. Foody, but could be more fresh, and the bitterness reduces the score somewhat. 88 p
Possibly, this wine received a slightly unfair treatment since I had "my Riesling nose" switched on.

  • Grassy/hay and peppery with a bit of soft sweetness at the end. Didn't register much fruit but was somewhere in the lime to green apple area. Definitely drink now if you still have it as the fruit has dropped/is dropping out. Went very well with our lemon/goat cheese/tarragon pasta - but didn't think this had the best QPR.

(Schloss Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Kammerner Renner, Kamptal) The historic Schloss Gobelsburg in Austria’s Kamptal region dates back to the 1780s. This winery has firmly reestablished itself with its entire lineup from the 2008 vintage, one that shows the unique character of the property as much as that of the grape. The Renner vineyard rests in the shadow of the Gaisberg and, in 2008, displays all the hallmarks of outstanding Grüner Veltliner: acidity, minerality, and spiciness. This wine will age gracefully.
