My last bottle. I opened this to compare with another 09 Pinot Blanc by Charles Dufour from Champagne (made as coteaux champenois). Two different worlds. Dufour was more about power and tension with restrained fruit, more freshness and less alcohol (12,5). Pichler's is equally lively, but the power is transformed more into expressive taste than tension. Deep, layered, rich, very ripe fruit, may be touch of botrytis. Crushed poppy seeds, passionfruit, grapefruit, litchy, honeyed texture, almost sweet ripeness, dry. Long clean finish. Really impressive!

What a great surprise. Compared to previous bottle (which was a little bit tired) a big difference. Incredibly fresh and racy. Broad palate, deep, structured. Surely one of the best bottles from Rudi I have had so far. Expressive Wachau pedigree, loads of minerality and soft but massive acidity. Beautiful big wine and great reward for patience. I will not rush to open next bottle.

Forest honey on the nose, full of herbs and wild flowers. Palate gaining bitter depth, long finish with salty herbal aftertaste. Acidic freshness is almost gone, but the wine doesn't seem to be tired at all. I open next bottle in six months or later.

Grosses Weissweinkino der anderen Art... Der Wein hat eine sehr zurückhaltende Nase aber drei grosse Tugenden... Mineralik, Mineralik & Mineralik!
Stroharomen, etwas Dörrfrüchte, nussig... buttrige Dichte kombiniert mit frischer Säure, gefällt sehr!

A very fresh and elegant wine with hints of citrus.
