  • To the Eye: Vibrant, pale yellow straw. Clear.

On the Nose: Aromas of peach, stone fruit, honeysuckle wash over you.

In The Mouth: I am immediately struck by the pleasant viscosity of the wine. Its pleasing immediately on the palate and elegant. Honeydew immediately comes to mind. It holds through on the mid palate with lime and peach, and then finishes with a lingering kiss.

This is a dry Alsatian styled Gewürztraminer. It definitely has the highly aromatic aroma profile you'd expect of orange blossom, stone fruits leaning toward
white peach, honeysuckle, slate, and a slight oily aroma. In addition there is a minerality that also comes forward with some force to balance out the fruit and floral notes.

Color is pale straw and the wine is brilliant in the glass.

On the palate there is a crisp acidity that somehow heightens the plush palate feel that is consistent start to finish. The wine is completely satisfying on its own and for food pairings it stands up well to moderate spice so I find it very versatile on the table.
Flavors of melon, sweet citrus and notes of fresh summer peaches are enveloped in a wrap of mineral notes. This is elegant and refined Gewürztraminer that justly portrays the Floodgate Vineyard and the Russian River Valley as a safe haven for this variety.

  • I have a growing love affair with this dry & racy white wine, and this had flavors of lychee, grapefruit, tropical fruit, hay and subtle guava notes. I also tasted Tuscan melon. . The wine is made from the first harvest of the planting, and is fermented in stainless steel. It had just a hint of spiciness and was a great alternative to other whites for the warmer summer months.
