  • Clear, deep gold with thick viscous legs. Clean, light nose, with barely detectable aromatics. The palate is medium sweet and very well balanced, with medium plus acidity, alcohol, body, flavor intensity and length. Alcohol is 14%. If anything, the sugar and alcohol combined to make it seem even more full-bodied. Very pleasant flavors of honey, sweet spice with a slightly bitter finish. Interesting, very good late harvest type wine, with no botrytis, no raisiny qualities typically associated with passitos and none of the oxidation and oak typically associated with vin santos. Overall very clean and fresh. Drink now, although it has potential for ageing. Paired beautifully as an apertifi with prosciutto, coppa, sopressata and aged cheeses from Veneto. I would have rated it much higher if it had a nose, but Ramandolo is typically very reticent.
